Found a really cool interactive map at Forbes.com, which shows the 2008 migration patterns of each county in the US.  Here’s migration for Austin (Travis County).  The black lines mean people are moving to Austin.  Red means they are moving away from Austin. Here’s a contrast for Los Angeles County:
